Anything else interesting? We recognize and observe all the biblical Jewish feasts. For instance, Passover, which was established by God at the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt, was the same feast that Christ observed at the Last Supper. Christians commonly call this observance, communion or the Lords Supper. Throughout the year, we explore the relevance of each of these Old Testament feasts in their New Testament context as we seek to more fully understand Gods plan for us. Dont worry, no animal sacrifices.
What about our name? We realize our name is a little odd, but that's on purpose. We want to convey a sense of our mission. A compass is a navigator's instrument. Its a tool to help the lost figure out where they are and find their way back to safety, and it's also a trusted companion to seasoned travelers, guiding them along their course. The Compass Project is a place to come to for direction and guidance for lifes journey.
Are we family sensitive? We place special emphasis on unifying, building up and supporting our families. We strive to make every gathering and event family sensitive, whether its a worship service or a potluck fellowship. God designed the family unit to be the foundation of civilization. We are doing our part to nurture families and keep them safe by promoting quality family time, scheduling group activities and teaching biblical principles such as abstinence and fidelity. We prefer not to separate by age or gender.
How do we study the Bible? We study the Bible on a verse-by-verse basis, one chapter at a time. We want to provide useful insights and a solid framework to prepare people to be resourceful in their own Bible study. Our goal is to teach the Bible in such a way that people mature in their faith and become equipped to teach themselves and others the great, timeless truths of the scriptures.
To whom are we seeking to minister? The body of Christ is made up of all races and ethnicities, and so is our community. We dont want our fellowship to develop around one single racial or ethnic group. We desire to minister to the entire community in which God has planted us. We are trusting Him to build a multi-racial congregation by adding members, as well as staff, to our fold from every walk of life, racial background and ethnic heritage.
Do we ask for money? We never take up a collection. Nope. No collection plates here. We teach what the Bible says about giving and let the Holy Spirit work in the life of each believer. An offering box is located at the back of the worship center for those led to contribute.
