Teaching Ministry

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12 (NASB)
"The teaching ministry of The Compass is the most important ministry of all. Every other ministry flows out of the teaching of the Bible and no ministry can long endure while neglecting it. A strong and growing fellowship is built upon expositional Bible teaching, rather than upon innovative programs or charismatic personalities. As pastor, my principal role is that of teacher.
w I must approach the teaching of God's Word with great caution, care and reverence, and I must guard my teaching ministry as a sacred trust.

w I must be prayerful and diligent in my studies, giving no foothold to popular psychology, modern notions of knowledge or the opinions of men.

w I must continually strive to reach the highest standard of scholarship that the guidance of the Holy Spirit and my training, experience and conviction will afford me.

w I must ever remain a student of the Bible, keeping a teachable spirit about me and enduring correction, reproof and instruction with humility and grace.

As people are nourished on a steady diet of solid spiritual food, they will grow in their faith in God, and they will mature in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Teaching the Bible, then, is the primary evangelistic effort of The Compass. Healthy sheep will reproduce naturally. My goals are to stimulate interest in the Bible so students will desire to study on their own, to provide them with insights and tools to be resourceful in their study and to foster in them a sensitivity to, and a confidence in, the accuracy, integration and perfect order of it all." - Noel R. Vincent, Pastor
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword and the Christian's charter. Here is Paradise restored, Heaven opened and the gates of Hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure. It is given in life, will be opened at the judgment and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. - Unknown
