Renovation of "The Barn" |
|
The Elks added a full kitchen and numerous bathrooms. There were two long bars - one in the front room and one in the back. Many locals came to play Bingo at the Elks Lodge during its tenure. However, due to lack of membership, Houston Elks 2562 was disbanded. In March 2001, The Compass purchased "The Barn" from the Elks and began the next phase in its history. The picture below shows "The Barn" as it was when The Compass took ownership. |

The area on the right with the mirrors was the front bar and is now the nursery. The carpeted area is now the fellowship hall. The tiled area became the foyer and offices.

You can see the hallway by the bathrooms on the right. The wall opening in the center of the picture was for a TV and led to the original office. The door on the left led to the storage closet. The original office and storage closet was transformed into the original nursery and now serves as a meeting room.

The back hadn't changed much over the years, except for the kitchen addition the sticks out of the left center. |
