The building which is now home to The Compass has been in the community for a number of years. "The Barn" as it is affectiontly know was once a working horse barn. People could pay a fee to ride horses in a circle in what is now the backyard. The remants of that old horse path can still be see today. In the 1970's Houston Elks Lodge 2562 purchased the barn for their new meeting hall. The pictures below show the condition the barn was in when it was purchased by the Elks and thier renovation of it into a meeting hall.
